Solar Power

MTA Queensland has partnered with Planet Ark Power to install a 66 kW solar energy system at the head office at Eight Mile Plains. The new energy system comprises of 240 265 kW solar panels installed on the roof of the premise.
The solar energy system provides great benefit to MTA Queensland both in the short and long term.
In the short term, the switch to solar resulted in an emissions offset of 53.4 tonnes in the first year, while MTA Queensland will see an overall 37 per cent reduction in the volume of energy used. This will see a saving of approximately $12k from the first year, up to a predicted saving of $374,605 over 25 years.
An additional 240 solar panels were added to the pre-existing 120 solar panels installed at the MTA Queensland head office, which brings the total solar energy system size to 99.6 kW.

LED Replacement Lighting

MTA Queensland have changed the entire internal lighting operation of the building to LED panel lights.
Replacement of the old twin-tube T8 troffer light fitting, the LED panel lights use 64 per cent less power, which is a massive saving not only on lighting but also on air conditioning as there is less heat inside the building.
