July, 2024

Welcome to the new financial year! Hopefully everyone has had a chance to recollect after another busy EOFY period before preparing for the financial year ahead.

With the calendar ticking over to 1 July, members must be aware of several key industrial relations changes now in effect.

From the first full pay period on or after 1 July, the National Adult Minimum Wage and minimum award wage increases apply. MTA Queensland’s expert Industrial Relations team has developed the 2024 Award Wages Guides for all major modern awards used in the automotive industry, to assist members in ensuring they are paying the correct wages. Members can download the new Guides in the Member Portal HERE.

The employer superannuation guarantee has also increased from 11 per cent to 11.5 per cent, while an updated Fair Work Information Statement has been released by the Fair Work Ombudsman in light of the recent Closing Loopholes legislation. If you need any assistance accessing information about these topics, please get in touch with our Workplace Relations team on (07) 3237 8777 and they will be more than happy to provide advice.

In other news, we have extended the nomination period for the 2024 MTA Queensland Industry Awards to support businesses in preparing nominations during this busy period. I am absolutely delighted to see members from right across the state get involved already, and I encourage all members to nominate, as there is an award category for everyone!

To nominate your business or employee, click HERE. Nominations close Wednesday, 31st July 2024.
