Hyundai’s Hydrogen FCEV Concept

This is Hyundai’s Initium hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) concept. The Initium is, Hyundai says, a preview of a new production FCEV that the company plans to unveil in the first half of next year. This SUV concept also marks the debut of Hyundai’s new design language – called ‘Art of Steel’ – which the company says embodies ‘the character of HTWO, Hyundai Motor Group’s dedicated hydrogen value chain business brand.’

The development of the Initium focused on three aspects – driving range and performance, spacious interior, and safety.
With large hydrogen tanks, and design tweaks – such as aerodynamic wheels and low rolling resistance tyres – aimed at reducing drag, Hyundai says the targeted driving range for the Initium is more than 650km. Electric motor output is up to 150kW and electrical energy can be used to power and charge appliances via the Initium’s Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) feature. Hyundai says the production version of the Initium concept is set to launch in the first half of 2025.
