Honda Australia has confirmed the new Honda HR-V – launched into the local market this month – will be offered in three variants, including a new hybrid grade e:HEV X which will sit in between the Vi X petrol and top of the range e:HEV L.
The petrol variant (Vi X) features the 1.5-litre VTEC engine and the hybrid variants – e:HEV X and e:HEV L – feature a two-motor hybrid system with a 1.5-litre Atkinson cycle engine.
Each grade features advanced driving, safety, interior and exterior specification upgrades.
On the exterior, the front grille styling has a darkened upper lip as well as Adaptive Driving Beam standard on e:HEV grades. In the rear, the taillight housing is now a horizontal tone with all LED lights.
The interior has a simplified centre console. The upper tray has been extended to house a large smartphone and a lower tray is now more accessible from the passenger position. There are USB-A and USB-C ports in the front cabin.
Honda says improvements have been made to the motion adaptive power steering and e:HEV grades also benefit from revised front and rear dampener tuning.
Noise Vibration Harshness (NVH) has also been improved with higher density cabin soundproofing reducing engine and road noise.
Improvements to the Honda Sensing driver assistance suite see new features added including Low Speed Breaking Control, Traffic Jam Assist and, in the e:HEV grades, Adaptive Driving Beam.
Other features have also been improved, including Collision Mitigation Braking System which has the addition of pedestrian and bicycle front cross-traffic collision, and oncoming motorcycle collision detection; the Road Departure Mitigation System; Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow which has improved longitudinal braking control, and Low Speed Follow algorithm; and Lane Keep Assist System which has the addition of Traffic Jam Assist at lower speeds.
The e:HEV L model is $42,900 drive away while the e:HEV X is priced at $39,900. The Vi X comes in at $34,900.
