Recently, I conducted two webinars focused on workforce planning development, with a focus on skilled migration. In the first session, I hosted two expert speakers who discussed strategies for attracting skilled migrants to your workplace and the essential steps involved in this process. The second webinar featured specialists from Multicultural Australia, who addressed “Supporting Your Diverse Workforce,” providing valuable insights into workplace strategies to retain staff from different and diverse backgrounds.
During this second session, a noteworthy statistic emerged: nearly 30 per cent of all individuals residing in Australia were born overseas. This represents a sizable portion of the workforce and underscores the importance of our discussions. If you are not actively engaging in this space while seeking employees, you are substantially narrowing your talent pool.
This leads me to my next topic: employing Millennials in the workplace. When I am out in the field talking with employers, I am hearing comments from employers expressing the need for more information on how to better connect with this cohort and designing strategies to communicate better with them and create a workplace environment that supports younger workers. In the coming month, I will conduct a lunchtime webinar aimed at creating a workplace where young workers can truly prosper.
By fostering an inclusive culture that values diverse perspectives and experiences, businesses can harness a wealth of creativity and innovation. Engaging younger generations also means adapting your management styles to resonate with their values, including work-life balance, growth opportunities, and strong company ethics. This inclusive approach can enhance employee loyalty and improve overall morale, making your organisation a more attractive place to work.
Lastly, I want to hear from more of you, the business owners! If you have specific topics of interest or areas you want to explore further, please contact me. Your feedback is invaluable, and I am eager to engage with the voices that matter the most—YOU! Together, we can cultivate diverse and dynamic workforces that drives us toward a successful future. Let’s work to ensure our businesses do not just fill positions but also build thriving, harmonious teams.
