The new generation of Renault’s all-electric Kangoo E-Tech van launches into Australia this month.
Available initially in short wheelbase (SWB) form (with a long wheelbase (LWB) model to follow later this year), the Kangoo E-Tech comes with a 45kWh battery offering a range of up to 285km (WLTP), a 90kW motor delivering 245Nm that drives the front wheels, and an Eco mode that caps the vehicle’s power output and top speed to help optimise range.
Recharging can be done via a standard 22kW AC charger or an optional 80kW rapid-charge DC charger that Renault says can charge up to 170km (WLTP)
of range in 27 minutes.
The cargo bay volume for the SWB Kangoo E-Tech is 3.3 cubic metres. The LWB variant will offer 4.2 cubic metres.
Equipment, safety and tech includes active safety features such as emergency brake assist, lane keep assist, reversing camera, rear parking sensors, and hill start assist. A ‘Peace of Mind’ pack can be optioned which includes blind spot intervention, driver attention alert, high beam assist, navigation, and traffic sign recognition and overspeed prevention.
Inside, the cabin tech includes the Renault Easy Link multimedia system with 8-inch display, three front seats with a central folding backrest that turns into a mobile office, a 4.2-inch digital instrument display, Apple Carplay and Android Auto, a smartphone dock, and a 12v dashboard power outlet.
As well as the Peace of Mind pack option (available for $1500), further optional packs include the Business Pack ($3,200) which features a tyre pressure monitor, adaptive cruise control, wireless smartphone charger and more; and a Trade Pack ($1,200) which delivers a timber floor lining, full-height cargo area wall lining, yard kit underbody protection, and cargo area LED lighting.
The Renault Kangoo E-Tech is priced from $61,990 and is covered by a 5yrs/100,000km warranty and 8yrs/160,000km battery warranty, plus 5-years roadside assistance. Renault says the LWB variant
will be priced from $63,990.
