Hyundai Reveals Details Of Inster Compact EV

Hyundai has unveiled an A-segment sub-compact EV called the Inster.

Two variants will be available – a base model with a 42kWh battery set-up, and a Long-Range version with a 49kWh battery. The Inster will, Hyundai says, offer a projected range of 355km (WLTP) on a single charge for the Long-Range variant. Both models are powered by a single motor delivering 71.1kW in the base variant and 84.5kW in the Long-Range. Both versions deliver 147Nm of torque.

When using a 120kW DC charging station, Inster can charge from 10 to 80 per cent in around 30 minutes. It comes equipped with an 11kW onboard charger as standard. Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality is available.

Dimensions see the Inster come in at 3825mm long, 1610mm wide, and 1575mm high. Wheelbase is 2580mm. The Inster sits on 15-inch steel wheels with wheel covers but 15-inch alloy or 17-inch alloy wheels will be offered depending on specification.

Inside, Inster’s technology and convenience set-up sees a 10.25-inch digital cluster, a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen with navigation, and a wireless charging dock.

All seats can be folded flat – including the driver’s seat. A front bench seat option and heated front seats and steering wheel are available. The second-row seats are split 50/50 and slide and recline.

For safety, Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) features include Surround View Monitor, Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist Rear, Blind-spot View Monitor and Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist 1.5.

Lane Keeping Assist and Lane Following Assist are also offered, plus Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist, Safety Exit Warning, Smart Cruise Control with Stop and Go, Highway Driving Assist 1.5, Intelligent Speed Limit Assist, Driver Attention Warning, High Beam Assist, Leading Vehicle Departure Alert and Rear Occupant Alert.

The ADAS Parking System combines Parking Distance Warning Front and Rear with a Rear-View Monitor for greater visibility.

INSTER will launch first in Korea this summer, followed by Europe, the Middle East, and Asia Pacific in due course. Specifications for any model destined for Australia will be announced closer to launch.
