Honda is to develop and supply a hydrogen fuel cell system for Isuzu with Isuzu planning to introduce a new heavy-duty truck model powered by the technology in 2027.
Having signed an agreement in January 2020 to conduct joint research on heavy-duty trucks utilising fuel cells, the two companies are currently planning to start demonstration testing of a prototype truck on public roads by the end of March next year.
The companies says that they will take advantage of the respective strengths of each company and accelerate the development of clean, low-noise, low-vibration fuel cell-powered heavy-duty trucks.
