The Motor Trades Association of Queensland (MTA Queensland) is thrilled to announce the second round of the 2021 Vocational Education and Training (VET) Trainer Scholarships have been awarded to Felicity Wright from the Gold Coast, who works at RDO Equipment in Loganholme, and Jack Cunnington from Manly West, who works at Mechanix Plus in Wynnum.
Through the scholarship, one female and one male automotive professional can further their career by undertaking a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116) valued at up to $2,500. This highly sought-after course provides the skills and knowledge to deliver training in the VET sector.
Felicity is a qualified parts interpreter with over 20 years in the automotive industry. She possesses a strong passion for customer service and holds a Certificate III in Automotive Sales. Her knowledge stems from a wide breadth of experience in the field, from customer service roles to becoming a spare parts manager for Southeast Queensland. Felicity has shown great interest in becoming an automotive teacher and hopes to use the scholarship to advance her career in this direction.
Jack is an experienced light vehicle technician with over 18 years in the trade. He holds various qualifications including a Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology, Certificate II in Automotive Air Conditioning, Certificate II in Small Business Management, as well as both Battery Electric and Hybrid Electric Vehicle Inspection and Servicing Skill Sets. Jack is extremely passionate about sharing his knowledge with others and believes becoming an automotive trainer is the next step in his professional journey.
MTA Institute General Manager Paul Kulpa said, “Both recipients are truly deserving of this scholarship. Becoming an automotive trainer takes dedication and tenacity, and I have no doubt that these two individuals will strive for greatness.

One male and one female are awarded the VET Trainer Scholarship twice per year. It is open to trade-qualified automotive employees in Queensland with at least five years’ experience.
The next scholarship round will open 1 February 2022.
