Chery To Bring Omoda E5 EV And Tiggo 8 Pero Max To Australian Market

Chery will launch its Omoda E5 SUV electric vehicle (EV) into the Australian market by the middle of this year.

The company says the EV is powered by a single electric motor producing 150kW and 340Nm, is able to reach 100km/h in 7.6 seconds, and will be available in two trim levels – Standard and Premium. It will, Chery adds, have power consumption of 15.5kWh/100km, a 61kWh battery, and deliver a range of up to 430km (WLTP).

Equipment will include a 12.3-inch curved screen, panoramic sunroof, a digital instrument cluster, and plenty of exterior and interior colour options.

The Omoda E5 will join another new member of Chery’s Australian portfolio, with the company also announcing the imminent arrival of the TIGGO 8 Pro Max, a premium flagship seven-seat SUV.

That model will arrive in three grades – TIGGO 8 Pro Max Urban (FWD), TIGGO 8 Pro Max Elite (FWD), and TIGGO 8 Pro Max Ultimate (AWD) – with all grades to be powered by a 2-litre turbo petrol engine delivering 180kW and 375Nm.

Plenty of details and specification information is to come, but if the Omoda 5 SUV, released into Australia last year, is any indication, then both the Omoda E5 and the TIGGO 9 Pro Max will likely be well priced and a serious option for those looking for a new vehicle in the EV and large SUV categories.
