Chery Australia has confirmed specifications for its first all-electric model, the Omoda E5.
The Omoda E5 crossover SUV is powered by a single electric motor that produces 150kW and 340Nm and drives the front wheels. A 61kWh battery delivers a driving range of up to 430km (WLTP) and acceleration sees the E5 sprint from 0 to 100km/h in 7.6 seconds.
Fast DC charging up to 80kW sees a 30 to 80 per cent recharge take under 30 minutes.
Two variants of the Omoda E5 will be available in the local market – an entry-level BX priced from $42,990 and the EX which boasts some extras over what is a pretty impressive list of standard features and functions and is priced from $45,990.
The entry-level BX is equipped coming with dual 12.3-inch screens (instrument cluster and infotainment), 18-inch alloy wheels, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus a 50W wireless phone charger. Also available is built-in sat-nav, three drive modes, intelligent voice command, 6-speaker Sony sound system, and DAB+ radio.
Advanced driver assistance system features are comprehensive, and amongst the include Forward Collision Warning, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Emergency Lane Keeping, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Departure Prevention, Adaptive Cruise Control, Traffic Jam Assist, Blind Spot Detection, Lane Change Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Braking, Rear Collision Warning, and Driver Monitoring System. There are also seven airbags that include driver, passenger, centre, front side and side curtain.
The EX gets a few extras, including a power tailgate, a power sunroof, puddle lamps, an 8-speaker sound system, 6-way power driver’s seat, heated steering wheel and more.
5 distinct colours are offered: Titan Green, Lunar White, Saturn Silver, Space Black and Martain Red. There’s also the option of a black roof on EX model Titan Green and Lunar White models.
The Omoda E5 battery is covered by an 8-year/unlimited kilometre warranty, while the vehicle is backed-up by Chery’s 7-year/unlimited kilometre warranty, 7-year capped price servicing and up to 7 years of roadside assistance.
Along with the announcement of the Omoda E5 specs, Chery also announced that its model line-up would expand in Australia with the Tiggo 4 Pro – a compact SUV that is due to arrive in October.
The Tiggo 4 will arrive in two grades – the Tiggo 4 Pro Urban and the Tiggo 4 Pro Ultimate.
Both will be powered by Chery’s 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine offering 108kW/210Nm.
Other features include a 10.25-inch infotainment dual screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 7 airbags, heated front seats and a comprehensive list of driver assistance features.
Chery says the new model will be available to order from the 16th of September, with vehicles in Chery showrooms from October.
The Tiggo 4 Pro will be backed with Chery’s 7-year unlimited kilometre warranty, 7-year capped price servicing and up to 7 years of roadside assistance.
