Aston Martin Unleashes The New And Formidable Vantage

Aston Martin has taken the wraps off its new Vantage, revealing a model with revised looks, new tech and a whopping boost in power.

That power comes in at a very juicy 490kW/800Nm thanks to a heavily reworked AMG-sourced 4-litre twin-turbo V8. Mated to an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission and Electronic Rear Differential (E-Diff), that brute of an engine propels the two-seater to a top speed of 325kmh, while the sprint to 100km/h is covered in a mighty swift 3.4 seconds.

Technology aimed at giving the new Vantage the edge in performance includes a new Launch Control system, a redesigned engine cooling system, upgraded oil system, and an enhanced body structure built around Aston Martin’s latest generation bonded aluminium construction.

There’s new suspension too, and additional underbody stiffening components for increased overall torsional rigidity. Steering response and front-end grip has been enhanced by ‘AML’ coded Michelin Pilot Sport S 5 tyres made specifically for the Vantage. Measuring 275/35 R21 (103Y) up front and 325/30 R21 (108Y) at the rear, and fitted to 21-inch forged alloy wheels, Aston Martin says the tyres feature a bespoke compound and have been tuned by the company to suit the performance levels the car can achieve.

Most noticeable of the design tweaks to the exterior of the new Vantage is a more muscular, wider stance, a return of the ‘side strake’, and a front grille that is a whopping 38 per cent larger than on the previous model, offering a 29 per cent increase in mass airflow for additional cooling. Further intakes are set into the bumper either side of the grille, and there’s a new integrated splitter with a wider and lower stance. The front-end treatment is completed by a new Matrix LED headlamp design with integrated DRLs, featuring Aston Martin’s new light signature.

On the inside, as you’d expect, the interior is fitted with luxurious materials and packed with state-of-the-art technology. Aston Martin’s next-generation infotainment system features a 10.25-inch touchscreen, but it is paired with physical switches and buttons for key mechanical operations such as drive selection, heating and ventilation. Online connection enables the driver to use the navigation system to, for example, look up their favourite restaurant, read the reviews and choose it as a destination. An Aston Martin app is available, from which the driver can choose a destination and send it to their Vantage ahead of travel.

When purchasing a new Vantage, owners are invited to enrol in the new Aston Martin app and create their own unique AML ID. The app offers a range of connected car subscription packages that are free for the first three years.

Production of the Vantage is set to start in the first quarter of this year with deliveries scheduled to being in the second quarter.
