As an employer of an apprentice in Australia, you may be eligible for a range of financial incentives from the Australian Government to assist with the hiring and training of your apprentices.
Priority Wage Subsidy
Support is available for employers of Australian apprentices in occupations listed on the Australian Apprenticeships Priority List.
Eligible employers may receive 10% of an apprentices wages paid to them for the first 24 months (up to $1,500 per quarter), and 5% of an apprentices wages paid to them for the third 12 month period (up to $750 per quarter.
Automotive qualifications listed on the Australian Apprenticeships Priority List include:
- AUR30320 – Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology
- AUR30420 – Certificate III in Agricultural Mechanical Technology
- AUR30620 – Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology
- AUR30720 – Certificate III in Outdoor Power Equipment Technology
- AUR30820 – Certificate III in Motorcycle Mechanical Technology
- AUR31120 – Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology
- AUR31220 – Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology
- AUR32120 – Certificate III in Automotive Body Repair Technology
- AUR32420 – Certificate III in Automotive Refinishing Technology
- AUR32518 – Certificate III in Automotive Underbody Technology
- AUR32721 – Certificate III in Automotive Electric Vehicle Technology

Assistance for Australian Apprentices with disability
Additional support is available from the Australian Government to Australian apprentices with a disability through the Disabled Australian Apprentice Wage Support (DAAWS).
The DAAWS is also available to employers whose apprentice becomes disabled during the period of the apprenticeship.
