MG Motor Unleashes the MG4 XPower

MG Motor Australia has revealed the official pricing and specification of its new high-performance all-wheel-drive electric hatchback, confirming the new MG4 EV XPower will be its most powerful production car yet.

Priced at $59,990 (plus on-road costs), the range-topping MG4 XPower is underpinned by the MG4’s Modular Scalable Platform (MSP), and is equipped with a dual motor configuration that delivers up to 320kW of peak performance to all four wheels – via front (150kW) and rear (170kW) electric motors – and 600Nm of torque. There’s also a new launch control feature, and this powerful set-up means some beefy performance numbers, with the XPower able to complete the 0-100km/h sprint time in 3.8 seconds.

Dynamic Cornering Control System will be available for the first time on an MG, featuring a locking electronic differential and Intelligent Motor Control to allow torque vectoring between all four wheels. Suspension upgrades feature recalibrated spring and damper tuning, stiffer anti-roll bars and sharper steering. MG says overall suspension stiffness has been increased by up to 25 per cent. There are ventilated 345mm discs on all four corners, with premium Bridgestone Turanza tyres fitted.

The XPower’s 64kWh battery is capable of recharging at up to 140kW, meaning a charge time of 26 minutes from 10 – 80 per cent using a 150kW DC rapid charger.
Exterior design and specification enhancements include orange “XPOWER’ brake calipers, a two-tone black roof, new 18-inch alloy wheels and polished trim accents, alongside an exclusive new Hunter Green colour option.

The MG4 XPower comes with the Pilot Active Safety Suite offering features such as Lane Keep Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, Traffic Jam Assist, Speed Assistance Warning, Blind Spot Detection, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Change Assist, and more.

“The MG4 XPower has supercar performance packed with features including launch control and a track mode inspired lap timer showing that a compact EV can be affordable, practical and spirited to drive,” said Peter Ciao, MG Motor Australia and New Zealand CEO.

“We expect it will appeal to customers looking for a true performance car with plenty of technology and space to match. The MG4 XPower EV also retains the generous safety equipment levels, as well as practical hatchback features, of the award-winning MG4 range.”
